Privacy Policy

Memex is built around a local-first model. Your records, cards, and knowledge are intended to live on your device rather than in a centralized Memex-owned cloud.

• Memex stores app data locally on your device as Markdown files and a local SQLite database.
• You may choose to back up or sync data through services you control, such as iCloud Drive or a custom folder.
• Memex does not require a Memex account to use the core product experience described on this site.

Memex uses a bring-your-own-model approach. When you connect a provider such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Kimi, Qwen, or Ollama, prompts are sent directly from your device to that provider according to your configuration. Your use of those providers is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

The Memex website uses Google Analytics to understand site traffic and high-level usage patterns. This helps us improve the website and content. If you interact with external links such as the App Store, Google Play, GitHub, or Discord, those services may collect data under their own policies.
